Add Tally to ChatGPT
Tally is added on chatgpt.com, and each person signs in with their own email.
Before you start
- Someone at your shop has added you on the Team page.
- A ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan. On Business, only a workspace owner or admin can add Tally (see below). ChatGPT Pro can connect it for lookups only. OpenAI doesn’t list Free, Go, or Plus. You pay OpenAI for the plan, not us.
- Your connector link:
https://tally.backspinlabs.com/mcp
Add it on the web
- Open chatgpt.com and go to Plugins in the sidebar.
- Click +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it Tally. Under Connection, paste the connector link as the Server URL.
- Choose OAuth for authentication.
- Tick I understand and want to continue, and click Create as a plugin.
- Install the plugin, and click Connect if ChatGPT asks.
- On the Tally sign-in page, enter your work email, then the eight-character code. The code comes by email, so there’s no password to remember.
- Check that the approval screen names your shop, and click Allow.
Use it in a chat
- Start a new chat.
- Type @ and pick Tally.
- Ask a question. If ChatGPT asks to confirm a lookup, approve it.
Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans
- On Business, a workspace owner or admin adds Tally as above. On Enterprise and Edu, so can a member an admin has given permission to create plugins with MCP servers.
- To share it, open Tally in Plugins, click •••, then Share plugin, pick who has access, and click Save.
- Each person installs it from Plugins and signs in to Tally as themselves, so their own permissions apply.
ChatGPT moves its menus around. If a step doesn’t match, look for Plugins in ChatGPT’s sidebar, or see Troubleshooting.
