Use ChatGPT with Lightspeed Retail

Tally connects ChatGPT to your Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) stores. Ask about sales, stock, customers, and work orders in your own words, and ChatGPT answers from your shop’s numbers.

What it does

• Tally keeps a copy of your shop’s Lightspeed data, and ChatGPT asks that copy your questions. Sales, stock, and work orders are a minute or two behind while your stores are open. Everything else is about 15 minutes behind.
• Sales are counted the way Lightspeed’s own reports count them, so the numbers match the reports you already run.
• Each person signs in with their own email and their own ChatGPT account. Staff see costs and customer details only if the owner or an admin turns that on for them.
• Tally reads, and changes nothing in Lightspeed unless your shop’s owner turns changes on.
• We don’t sell your data, share it for ads, or train AI on it. Answers go to OpenAI under its terms and your settings with it. Security and your data

• “Northgate had a slow week. What didn’t sell that usually does?”

  Each store’s week against the week before, with the categories and items that moved.

• “Do we have the rain jacket in a medium anywhere?”

  Items by name, SKU, UPC, or part number, with stock at every store.

• “What’s been here 180 days without one sale?”

  In-stock items that haven’t sold in that long, biggest dollars first.

• “What do I need to order to get through the next month?”

  What to order from each vendor, based on what’s been selling.

• “Is any job held up for a part we’ve got on a shelf somewhere?”

  Jobs waiting on parts, with each part’s count at that store and which other stores have it.

• “Who spent the most with us this year?”

  Customers ranked by net sales, with visits and last visit, at one store or all.

Connect it

1. Your shop sets up Tally and connects Lightspeed. The first copy takes from a few minutes to a few hours.
2. Someone at your shop adds you on the Team page.
3. In ChatGPT, add Tally as a custom connector and sign in with your work email. About ten minutes.
